What is the Mud Pump Piston for Mud Pump Liner?

Mud pump piston for mud pump liner is the expendable part of the drilling pump fluid system and it's one of the biggest wearing parts of drilling work.

* The mud pump piston assembly is the major part of the mud pump fluid end. The piston assembly is composed of a snap spring, retainer（press plate), piston cup, and piston bore.

* The discharge pressure of the mud pump is generated by the up-and-down motion of the piston in the cylinder liner. Small piston—high pressure and low flow rate; Big piston—low pressure and high flow rate. * Metric pump and inch pump adopts metric piston and inch piston respectively.

Classfication of Mud Pump Pistons: There are two types of pistons: 1.--Bonded Pistons:

Vulcanizing piston cup on piston hub directly, and don’t need press plate and snap spring to fix.

One piece bonded constructed piston, no joints, no leakage.

2.--Replaceable Pistons:

The replaceable pistons can remove the piston cup, and the pistons are fixed by press plate and snap ring.

* Someone also distinguishes the pistons by single action piston and double-action piston. The double-action piston is often used in Russian pumps.

A. REPLACEABLE PISTONS

BAORUI replaceable pistons are made with nitrile rubber or polyurethane and the piston’s maximum pressure capability is due to this oil, water, and heat resistant material.

B. BONDED URETHANE PISTONS

BAORUI’s bonded polyurethane pistons are designed for resistance to extrusions and abrasions. And with water cooling, it will provide optimum performance in oil base mud and high drilling pressures. Material of Piston Cup: urethane material.

Features 1.-- Rated for all drilling operations up and exceeding 5000psi. 2.-- Maximum operating temperature is 170°F. 3.-- High-pressure mud pump service.

C. BONDED RUBBER PISTONS

BAORUI pistons are constructed of nitrile rubber bonded to a solid metal hub. The oil-resistant rubber is designed to provide optimum performance in an oil base or water base mud and high drilling pressures. Features 1.-- High tensile strength. 2.-- Maximum operating temperature is 250°F. 3.-- Ready for all drilling operations. 4.-- Extended service life.

D. ENDURANCE PREMIUM BONDED PISTONS

Someone also calls supreme piston; high temperature resistance piston. One piece bonded constructed piston, no joints, no leakage. * Material of Piston Cup: urethane material * Service life: ≥400 hours * Suitable for zirconial ceramic liner and high pressure mud pump * Good performance under extreme drilling conditions Features 1.-- Rated for all drilling operations up and exceeding 5000psi. 2.--Maximum operating temperature is 200°F. 3.-- Extended service life. 4.-- High-temperature tolerance. 5.-- High tolerance to chemical attack.
